Every person has a story to tell. Although some might be more interesting or intriguing, more daring and suspenseful, more joyful or more sorrowful, everyone has a story. The choice is whether to tell it or not. The Micah Tyler Band’s mission is simple: “To effectively spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through genuine worship leading, authentic music, and creative, relevant lives.” Their hope is to do all of this by telling the story that they have been given.
Starting out as a part-time traveling band for 5 years, the Micah Tyler Band have been traveling as a fulltime ministry since February of 2011. They are made up of Micah Tyler (Lead Vocals/Acoustic Guitar), Haley Warren (Background Vocals/Occasional Tamborine), Will Gallagher (Keys), Caleb Johnson (Bass), and Daniel Begnaud (Drums/Percussion).
Their musical stylings vary throughout their first album Better, released in August of 2010. The album features a variety of influences that make up the MTB as artists- from straight pop/acoustic tunes such as “Yours” and “New” to a playful, bluesy track in “The Flood,” or pulled back, stories like “I Would Love Them” and “Name” to powerful worship ballads like “Better” and their most popular song, “Mighty To Love.”
“My songs come from real places that I have been and that I have lived through,” says Micah. “I was a student pastor for 9 years so songs like “I Would Love Them” played in my head through the stories of students, long before I ever set them to music.”
They are thrilled to announce that they are making plans to go back in to the studio to record their 2nd album in May of 2012! This new project is going to be called “Me Against Me.” The new album will include a few songs from Better with new sounds, rerecorded and mastered along with a whole new batch of new songs that tackle the album’s common theme. “I think the battle I struggle with the most is the battle with self. To live, we must deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. That is really tough. The pleasures that we hold as ‘needs’ are empty ‘wants’ that we choose over Christ,” Micah says. “The songs on the new record are going to range from the highs of laying our lives down in sweet surrender to the epic wars we wage against the Lord for control of our own hearts. Somewhere on this album, everyone will have a song to identify with – no matter what part of life’s journey they find themselves in.”
The Micah Tyler Band has served as a worship band for camps, retreats, DiscipleNow Weekends, conferences, and has played concerts in churches, coffee shops, college campuses, and would love to be a part of your next event!
